Catalyzing social change to transform colonial narratives & impacts with workshop facilitation, transformative organizational development, decolonizing workbooks & communication design grounded in Squamish Matriarchy

A Foundation of Cultural Safety as Pre-work

As a decolonial public service AND to support everyone to work with Indigenous Peoples in a good way, we have created a three part Interactive Introduction to Cultural Safety. This mini-course include three videos, downloadable PDF handouts, and links to other resources that will introduce you or your organization to the main concepts of Cultural Protocols, Cultural Empathy and Cultural Safety.

As a mini-course, we provide the inspiration, vocabulary and teachings you will need to complete our interactive Cultural Safety Plan - included as a download when you complete the course - which we ask you to fill out before booking workshops or consulting with us.

This new pre-work is a way for us to share pre-requisite knowledge while also filtering out organizations who aren’t at the level of decolonial commitment we are looking for. And most importantly, the pre-work will help us ensure cultural safety for the Indigenous team at Nahanee Creative and, hopefully, others too.

You can, of course, keep going deeper with Cultural Safety education but these mini-courses will set a strong foundation for your continued learning while getting you started in 60 minutes or less.

Decolonizing Implementation:

This is a new facilitated dialogue we designed to support organizations to implement your giveaways and move forward with decolonial tools to embed critical analytical frameworks into your organizational planning.

Testimonials

“unique and necessary”

“Dear Ta7talíya Michelle Nahanee,
Thank you for the years of learning, work and good writing and teaching that has resulted in a body of work that I found complex and accessible, practical and challenging - unique and necessary. Upon entering the course, I was immediately helped by seeing Decolonizing in relationship with Indigenizing, Reconciling and Self-Actualizing - and for the background materials you provided for each area. Thank you for your image with the 4 aspects. Learning in context is so important - and this gave me a much more complete picture to deepen my journey of learning.”

— Stina

“everything was given great care”

“I attended Decolonize First as part of my professional development work this year and it was such a great experience. The content was excellent and what really stood out was how the course was put together. It was so well thought out, utilized a number of different learning formats, shared voices, and offered a lot of collaborative learning - everything was given great care. I can't say enough good things about how impactful it was. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone embarking on personal or professional development to build their decolonial muscles.”

— Delanie Dyck

“She walks the talk”

“Ta7talíya Michelle is an awesome facilitator. What stood out to us the most was how she created a safe and open space to learn about complex and difficult-to-talk-about concepts. The activities not only challenged us but served to bring our team together in an incredibly meaningful way. She walks the talk, modelling leadership and care and showing that decolonization starts with each one of us. The Decolonizing Practices workshop energized the conversation in our office and provided a framework for reflecting on ourselves and our professional practices. Thanks Ta7talíya!”
