Testimonials from previous Decolonize First 4-week seminars

    I was a participant in the Autumn afternoon workshop for Decolonize First! series. I wanted to let you know that it was a very rewarding, even if difficult, experience for me as a settler here on Turtle Island. Although I had already had made a commitment to Indigenization in my workplace and personal life, I hadn’t had much experience with work of decolonization. This workshop provided opportunities to explore decolonization in a safe, welcoming and authentic place. It was great to interact with other participants all at various stages on the continuum of learning with everyone being open hearted about connecting and learning. Thank you for delivering an impactful and meaningful workshop that was more than just learning with a focus on action as well.

https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5ec321c2af33de48734cc929/1618497259178-6XJGK9GR6YAVBQL5L519/20140301_Trade-151_012-2.jpg
image/jpeg

image
2500x1518" }
Fiona

    The Decolonize First Workbook is now required homework for all staff at our organization. It's such an amazing tool for supporting both personal and organizational change. Filled with so much insight and thoughtful prompts for exploration it's a book that should be on every desk and kitchen table across Turtle Island as far as I'm concerned. Thank you Ta7talíya Michelle for sharing your warmth and wisdom with the world.

    I attended Decolonize First as part of my professional development work this year and it was such a great experience. The content was excellent and what really stood out was how the course was put together. It was so well thought out, utilized a number of different learning formats, shared voices, and offered a lot of collaborative learning - everything was given great care. I can't say enough good things about how impactful it was. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone embarking on personal or professional development to build their decolonial muscles.

    Thank you for the years of learning, work and good writing and teaching that has resulted in a body of work that I found complex and accessible, practical and challenging - unique and necessary. Upon entering the course, I was immediately helped by seeing Decolonizing in relationship with Indigenizing, Reconciling and Self-Actualizing - and for the background materials you provided for each area. Thank you for your image with the 4 aspects. Learning in context is so important - and this gave me a much more complete picture to deepen my journey of learning.
